What is OPM?

Hot on the heels of my last Blog posting: Why is project management so fragmented in companies? I received an invitation from my good friend Donnie MacNicol to attend a session he was running in Central London.

The title for the evening was Organisational Project Management. I hear many of you ask, “What is that?” In order to answer the question let me quote from the initial email I received:

“I would like to invite you to the launch of the Organisational Project Management (OPM) Forum, a new group within the PMI UK Chapter…… The focus is how organisations use project, program, portfolio, and change management to gain business advantage by innovating quicker, delivering more effectively, and so on. …..”

The evening was packed with lots of activity and we made countless suggestions. Lots of ideas were put forward to advance the thinking and actions of OPM.

It is very early days for this group and you may well want to get involved or simply know more. The initial starting point is to join the LinkedIn group called Organisational Project Management

Here’s hoping for lots more blogs and articles about OPM.
